Heading away for summer? The annual Boxing Day sales are looming which means one thing: if you haven’t kitted out your relaxed warm-weather wardrobe then now’s the time to stock up.

Whether you’re heading to the beach or just keen for a seasonal update, it’s no sweat to refresh your look with some easy-breezy summer staples (without breaking the bank). We’ve got all the latest looks for guys and little ones too.

At Woodgrove newcomers Dotti and Jay Jays we’re seeing lots of ruffles, stripes, florals and breathable linen this summer. Mid-length summer dresses are easy to throw on with minimal fuss while playsuits and jumpsuits, in a range of cuts and fabrics, continue to make a strong case. Wide-legged culottes are having their moment in the sun too. On the super-casual front, logo tees and jogger-style shorts are big looks for summer 18/19.

On the t-shirt scene, stripes, 90s nods and vintage logos still dominate. At Jay Jays, slim denim shorts and easy-fit chinos (long or short) are a great option for warmer days, while printed pool shorts make a popular choice for fellas young and old – whether poolside or on the street. Up top, think tropical prints and tie dye, and top off with logo sweaters or the never-say-die pale denim jacket.

Ruffles, strips and chambray abound for girls at Cotton on Kids. Think jumpsuits, pinny-style sundresses and cute tie-front cardies. At Ghanda, look for gingham, frills and pastel tie dye for girls and all the surf essentials for boys. Meanwhile, Edge Clothing stocks a great range of tee dresses and cropped tanks for teens. Elsewhere for boys, pool shorts and muscle tees are a fast-track to cool summer simplicity, while tropical and camo prints fit the bill when teamed with this season’s freshest pool slides.

Lace-up styles, animal print and floral frills are all proving popular for ladies at Bras N Things and Cotton On Body this summer, while 80s-style crinkle fabric is also having a big resurgence. For fellas, the classic pool short, tropical trunk or faded boardy are the way to go.

Thanks to the harsh Aussie climate, hats, sunnies and cover-ups are an essential part of your summer wardrobe – especially if you’re planning to hit the beach or pool. Luckily, looking good while covering up is now a thing, so you don’t have to look like an undercover investigator while saving your skin. For the ladies, straw boater hats and panamas are a great look. For guys, bucket hats, snapbacks and dad hats are where it’s at. For all the latest accessories, head to Factorie, Cotton On and Sunglass Hut.
